title: "lerp"
description: "Linearly interpolate between two [Shadow]s.

The [t] argument represents position on the timeline, with 0.0 meaning that the interpolation has
not started, returning `a` (or something equivalent to `a`), 1.0 meaning that the interpolation
has finished, returning `b` (or something equivalent to `b`), and values in between meaning that
the interpolation is at the relevant point on the timeline between `a` and `b`.

The interpolation can be extrapolated beyond 0.0 and 1.0, so negative values and values greater
than 1.0 are valid (and can easily be generated by curves).

If [a] or [b] are both null, this will return `null`. If only one of the arguments is null, the
null argument will be replaced with a transparent copy of the non-null argument"

```kotlin
fun lerp(a: Shadow?, b: Shadow?, t: Float): Shadow?
```

Linearly interpolate between two `Shadow`s.

The `t` argument represents position on the timeline, with 0.0 meaning that the interpolation has
not started, returning `a` (or something equivalent to `a`), 1.0 meaning that the interpolation
has finished, returning `b` (or something equivalent to `b`), and values in between meaning that

than 1.0 are valid (and can easily be generated by curves).

null argument will be replaced with a transparent copy of the non-null argument

#### Parameters

| | |
| --- | --- |
| a | Start `Shadow` at t = 0f |
| b | End `Shadow` at t = 1f |
| t | Position on the timeline |

#### Returns

| --- | --- |
|  | Interpolated `Shadow` |

```kotlin
fun lerp(start: Shadow, stop: Shadow, fraction: Float): Shadow
```

Linearly interpolate two `Shadow`s.

<div class='sourceset sourceset-common'>Common</div>

```kotlin
fun lerp(start: Color, stop: Color, @FloatRange(from = 0.0, to = 1.0) fraction: Float): Color
```

Linear interpolate between two `Colors`, `start` and `stop` with `fraction` fraction
between the two. The `ColorSpace` of the result is always the `ColorSpace` of
`stop`. `fraction` should be between 0 and 1, inclusive. Interpolation is done in the
`ColorSpaces.Oklab` color space.
